Lion's
Roar Summer 2005!
Greetings!
Summer
Festivals
Sierra
Nevada World Music Festival
Our
annual visit to Angels Camp, California started with unusually
cold temperatures and rain. But the weather cleared and
it was a beautiful weekend filled with lots of roots reggae.
My favorite acts were:
Wadi
Gad, who started Saturday off with a great set backed
by an all-star band.
Bambu
Station and the Virgin Island showcase. Pressure, Iba,
Ras Attitude, Batch, and Army put on an incredible performance.
And
on Sunday, SOJA (Soldiers of Jah Army), from Washington
D.C. In my opinion they were one of the highlights of
the weekend. Their CD "Peace in a Time of War" has
become one of my favorites. Check thier web site at sojamusic.com.
Reggae
on the River

The
22nd Annual Reggae on the River was once again a huge
success. The last year at French's Camp featured great
performances from Alpha Blondy, Damian Marley, Prezident
Brown, Junior Reid and many more.

Mystic
Lion flags flew over the main stage and shade parachutes.
A special backstage banner titled "22 Salmon" celebrated
the 22 years at French's Camp. The art images were also
used for limited edition posters and laminates. Thanks
go to Leo, Carol, and John for their continued help and
support.

We're
excited to part of the move in 2006 to the new larger
venue at Dimmick's Ranch, just across the Eel River to
the south.

Our
work for ROTR has also been featured on the West Side
Posse's web site:
The
hemp & silk flags which fly proudly over the Reggae
on the River stage and shade tents are the work of Mystic
Lion Artist Lawrence Hanson. Under the guidance of Leo
Valladeres Reggae on the River has moved the ambiance
up to a new level with these colorful additions to our
concert. Spectacular job, guys!

Monterey
Bay Reggaefest
We're
returning to our artistic roots at the Monterey Bay Reggaefest.
This year the lineup includes many of my favorite artists:
Alpha Blondy, Midnite, Culture, Native Elements, Humble
Soul, and the Twinkle Brothers.
Once
again the Mystic Lion backdrops will bring color to the
stages. This year we also designed the 10th anniversary
poster. Come see the booth at the beautiful Monterey County
Fairgrounds on Labor Day weekend, September 3-4.

Midnite "Wave
Lion" is on the way for the upcoming shows in San
Luis Obispo and Santa Cruz, California. Big thanks go
out to Louie, Gabe, Amy, Jamie, and all the SLO/Pismo
posse for their support and encouragement.

There
have been so many requests to buy the posters that we're
reproducing some of our classics from the last few years.
These will include shows from Midnite, Dezarie and Bambu
Station. Look for them at all Good Vibez and Mystic Lion
shows.
Monterey
Bay Reggaefest 10th anniversary poster is now available.
