Greetings
from Lawrence Mystic Lion Artist.
Humble Soul Meets Native
Elements
Fulfilling a long held personal
dream of mine, Hawaiian Roots Reggae star Humble
Soul, R.A.W. #1408, traveled to California in August
and connected with San Francisco's premier reggae band Native
Elements, R.A.W. #802. From the first notes of rehearsal,
we knew something special was happening. The music seemed
to flow, with the band capturing Humble Soul's unique
island mood.
The first show at the Ashenaz in
Berkeley proved us right. Long time Humble Soul fans were
ecstatic; many saying they'd never heard him so clear, "just
like the CD, only live". After Humble Soul's show
at the R.A.W. showcase in Monterey (his personal favorite),
and a resounding show in Sacramento, the last performance
of the tour was at the Monterey Bay Reggaefest. With an
unexpectedly shortened set, the band made every minute
count. Native Elements and new R.A.W. member Dan-I Spencer
got the crowd moving. Humble Soul then took the stage
with a roar from his fans. After a rousing "Jah Love
Supreme"
and "Damn Vampires", "Pakalolo Sweet" again
lifted the audience in amazement. A Hawaiian youth standing
next to me said, "this is the anthem", and held
up his watch set to Hawaii time - 4:20. "All the King's
Men" finished the show, but enthusiastic calls from the
crowd brought Humble Soul back out for "Unity",
closing a short but sweet set.
Native Elements and Humble Soul
are now working in the studio and planning future shows
together. Humble Soul's CDs "Good
Lord, Thank You", and "Jah Love Supreme" and Native
Elements' CDs "Nice n' Up" and "For
the Love"
are all available here at mysticlionart.com.
